SMPTE timecode toolkit for macOS. Decode files, monitor LTC live, generate signal, split LTC, plus MIDI Timecode output to your DAW or lighting console.

TimeCode Studio is a complete SMPTE timecode toolkit for macOS — decode, monitor, generate, and route LTC from a single native app.

DECODE TIMECODE FROM FILES
Open WAV / BWF audio files, MP3, M4A or any video file (MOV, MP4) and instantly read:
• Start timecode — from BWF metadata, QuickTime timecode track, or LTC encoded in the audio waveform
• Duration in TC and seconds
• Frame rate auto-detection (24, 25, 29.97 NDF/DF, 30, 50, 59.94, 60 fps) and drop-frame flag
• Sample-accurate offsets in both samples and frames
• Manual frame rate override when files lack metadata

LIVE LTC MONITOR
Listen to any audio input — built-in microphone, USB audio interface, multitrack recorder — and watch decoded SMPTE timecode update on a large clock display in real time. Pick the device, pick the channel, hit Listen. Auto-detection finds the channel carrying LTC across multi-channel inputs.

LTC GENERATOR
Generate broadcast-grade LTC signal at 23.976 / 24 / 25 / 29.97 NDF / 29.97 DF / 30 / 50 / 59.94 NDF / 59.94 DF / 60 fps and send it to multiple audio outputs simultaneously — different devices, different channels, individual gain control. Frame-accurate biphase mark code with sample-precision phase tracking.

ART-NET TIMECODE
Send Art-Net 4 ArtTimeCode packets over UDP to lighting consoles, media servers and visual playback systems. Configure Net / SubNet / Universe with live Port-Address calculation. Run audio LTC and Art-Net at the same time, locked to a single source.

TC SPLITTER
Capture LTC from any audio input and relay it to multiple audio outputs AND Art-Net at the same time — turn one timecode signal into many. Eliminate the need for external distribution amplifiers and TC bridges.

Big release for MIDI users:
• New: MIDI Timecode (MTC) output in Generator and Splitter — virtual source visible to any DAW or console, plus picker for hardware MIDI destinations.
• Background MIDI helper keeps the virtual source alive across app restarts, so MTC slaves (Logic, Reaper, Resolve, grandMA3 etc.) never lose their binding.
• Detected packets/sec rate readout for both Art-Net and MIDI so you can verify outputs at a glance.
• Performance: Art-Net send moved off the audio thread, race-free MTC ticker, locked counters, reusable MIDI buffer.

BUILT FOR
• Live event technicians syncing audio, video and lighting
• Broadcast engineers checking BWF metadata before delivery
• Theatre and concert technicians distributing TC from a single recorder
• Lighting designers sending TC to multiple consoles and media servers
• Post-production verifying start timecode and durations
• Anyone who has ever wondered “what’s the start TC of this WAV?”
